Sunrise Massage was opened in 2006 by Izumi Stephens, who has been living in Bainbridge Island since 2005. 

She graduated from Ashmead Massage College in Fife, Washington. This intensive program demands over 500 hours of hands-on practice before a license is granted. Izumi also took extra curriculums in aromatherapy and spa body treatment. She trained in sports injury massage in 2011. She is currently studying small animal massage at the Northwest School of Animal Massage. 

Her native language is Japanese and her modality is inspired by the East. After few years in practice, she worked at the Blue Moon in Hayama, Japan. This unique setting was introduced by a Japanese magazine in summer 2008.
